I have now been vegan for one month. To be honest I feel great, I have even had a couple of people comment on how I look leaner. There has only been a few moments where I have wanted to cheat but I managed them.
Only just the other night I was driving home and I was thinking about getting KFC (I know, not the best takeaways, but I drove past them). I kept telling myself it was ok, nobody would ever need to find out. Ha, I managed to get home without incident.
I must say I now understand what happens when I ate meat. After a meal I would feel “heavy”, I never understood what that meant but I totally understand now. I don’t get that feeling after any meal. There is no slow down that is usually associated with a large meal.
I haven’t lost any muscle mass (for those wondering about protein issues, vegan’s get plenty of protein!). In fact I have just purchased a weight bench to bulk up a bit. I am already a solid guy but after seeing my cousin the other day for the first time in 6 months, wow, I got some work to do. That guy is huge. I won’t get to his size but I will feel good when people comment and I can proudly say I’m vegan then watch their confusion.
In another month or so I will get some bloods done to check my B12 and Zinc levels as those are the two which Vegan’s can have issues with. I think I’m doing fine tho, Marmite has plenty of B12 and it’s great on toast!
